News and Notes

• Registration is now closed for Uniforms to Mortarboards: Florida’s Colleges and Universities Serving Veterans. If you are interested in attending and have not registered, please contact Tracy Tyree at (813) 974-8462. Click here for more details about this drive-in conference on November 6, 2009 (delete “and to register”)! The Honorable Eric K. Shinseki, Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, will provide the luncheon keynote address!

Let Us Serve You

Whether you postponed higher education to join the military or started and then put your education on hold to serve our nation, you can be confident that USF is committed to helping you achieve academic success. This includes ensuring that it is as easy as possible for you to receive the educational benefits to which you are entitled through the new Post-9/11 GI Bill, or any other established program.

Part of the University of South Florida, our office serves veterans, active duty servicepersons and members of the Selected Reserve, as well as the dependents of veterans eligible for benefits. We offer services such as:
 

• On-campus liaison with the VA as well as other USF departments.
• Guidance regarding educational benefits eligibility.
• Assistance with forms and forwarding of documentation to the VA.
• Specialized academic guidance services and support programs through the VetSuccess On Campus program.
   

The Office of Veterans Services is located in the Student Services Building, SVC 2127, in the Counseling Center and is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. After-hours appointment can be arranged.

 

Veterans Services offices can also be found at USF St. Petersburg, USF Sarasota-Manatee, and USF Polytechnic.
